Post Jam Updates

nethunter-jam.exe is the original jam version.

nethunter.exe and the web build have been updated with minor fixes. I'd recommend playing the updated version as it contains only minor bug fixes but the original is available to download.

11/3/26 - Fixed the boss fight not triggering before the game ends + fixed a crash after the boss

Iconography

Couldn't fit this into the ingame instructions so here you go:

Shield: Block that much damage before your health gets damaged
Poison: Take that much damage at the end of the turn, then reduce by 1
Evasion: Completely negate one instance of damage and then remove
Vulnerable: Double one instance of damage and then remove

Fun concept, unfortunately clicking "Restore some HP" sent me back to the main menu and made me lose my progress.

Thanks for playing. There was a bug meaning the final boss did not trigger and the game just abruptly ended which is fixed in the latest version.

Fun game concept!

I played through twice and both times I was sent to the starting screen after a few turns (maybe 10?). Once after the market and once after a rest. I'm not sure if there is a turn limit or a goal overall? I won all my fights, so I didn't "lose" the game unless something else caused me to go back to the start menu.

I'm also not sure how to use the "slot in" chips. The instructions mention that they can be used once per battle. I tried pushing random buttons (A, B, X, Y, D-Pad) on my turn, but nothing happened.

If this game is in a git forge somewhere I would be happy to contribute to it.

There is supposed to be a boss and a screen telling you that you won, but maybe that got broken for the released version.

For various reasons I don't have the source publically available I'm afraid but I appreciate the offer. Thanks for playing and the feedback as well.

Edit: I have fixed the bug that meant the boss fight wasn't triggering.

Just beat the latest version! Lost to the boss the first time but got him the second time. I added the game to my TrimUI Brick. I will definitely be playing this again.

I found another minor bug. After you beat the boss you get a reward and then are sent to the deck editing screen. After exiting the deck editing screen you get the "You win" screen. I feel like it should go straight to the "You win" screen after beating the boss.

I have a few ideas for improvements that I will implement in the copy I downloaded and would be happy to contribute if you ever decide to upload it to a git forge (or accept patches some other way):

  • Add `// input: gamepad` to the metadata section so the mouse is hidden
  • On the deck editing screen skip over blank slots to make comparing chips easier
  • Add the ability to swap two chips in the deck tree
  • Don't show the shop option when the player has zero gold
  • Add the icons and their meaning to the instructions page
    • This would be handy on devices like my TrimUI Brick where I don't have the itch.io page
